Given his performance in this game I was surprised to see that Garneau was actually a call-up for Lévis as an injury replacement. His imposing frame in conjunction with his relentless off-puck pursuit allowed him to create opportunities for himself and his teammates by getting active on the forecheck and keeping his feet moving in the offensive zone. His hard work lead directly to the first goal when he delivered a body check in the offensive zone to remove a winger from the puck and made a quick pass down the boards to initiate the cycle game. He was consistently supporting pucks in the offensive zone by staying close to puck-carriers and inserting himself into board battles while utilizing his size to come out with the puck on multiple occasions before making a shrewd pass to an open teammate to extend the offensive zone sequence. His hard work was rewarded late in the game when he received a pass in the neutral zone and fired the puck into the open net for his first career goal at the M18 level.
