Zimmerman was a sneaky good player; his shot was surprisingly quick and caught goaltenders off guard frequently with how quickly it came on and off his stick. His creativity and hands made him hard for defenders to read, and when combined with his nice blend of solid/smooth skating, he was an offensive threat every time he had the puck. Zimmerman had a few nice sequences of pulling defenders out of position with his hands and then connecting on a surprising drop pass to a teammate, gifting them a full lane of space. I thought he saw the game further ahead than almost anyone else, and when combined with his puck skills and creativity, it made him an interesting player in my eyes.

One of the big offensive distributors for the side was Marek Zimmerman, his fingerprints were often all over the high quality scoring chances that his team got. He was a strong playmaker who saw the ice extremely well and his ability to consistently provide himself as a passing outlet gave his teammates a reliable option to dump the puck off to if they came under pressure. He was on the puck regularly and scanned effectively, picking out players all over the ice with passes varying in distance and difficulty. His constant movement, both on and off the puck, made him so difficult to pin down and contain because he was spreading the defense out and drawing players out of position. He did a nice job getting the puck on net himself too, forcing saves and generating rebounds that led to second chance opportunities as he took advantage of the space afforded to him. He came away third in scoring for his team at this event and showed some solid skills that I think he can build on and become an even more effective playmaker.

Chase Allen
Regional Scout - USA
Marek Zimmerman was Honeybaked’s points leader during this event as he tallied eight points in six games. The blueliner was a consistent attacking threat for them and he was quick to catch my eye. He used his speed effectively and was able to create separation between himself and the defense to make plays, something he was able to do well due to him keeping his head up and constantly scanning for open teammates. He made quick decisions on the puck and showed off some strong playmaking capabilities, he timed his passes well and was able to access tight windows to send his teammates in on goal. He was very aggressive in pressuring the puck and was able to force errors and gain possession of the puck before leading play up the ice on the counterattack and generating odd-man rushes. Many of his contributions came on the offensive side of the puck and he was a dangerous player for this Honeybaked team.
