Regional Scout - USA
Buffalo’s leader in points was Leo Parini as he finished with four goals and five assists in five games, and was a focal point of many attacking rushes for them. He was a great target man who was strong on his stick and difficult to dispossess, he held the puck well and was able to buy time for players to get open for him to feed the puck into space. He utilized his size advantage extremely well by forcing his way into the center lane and giving himself higher quality shooting opportunities instead of settling for shots around the perimeter. He drove hard to the net and displayed some nice finishing ability in tight, using a quick release to pounce on his opportunities sensing the tight windows he had to take his chances. He wasn’t one of the paciest players on the ice so he had to deal with pressure as players closed him down, but he was able to stick handle well and adjust his hands to open passing lanes to get the puck off his stick and find the open man. His game wasn’t necessarily the flashiest but I thought he used his tools well to make a big impact and in the moments where he was presented with opportunities he showed up and made them count.
