A strong defensive presence from Leyton Dewing was a boon to his side as he helped disrupt plays and effectively get the puck back into the hands of his fellow forwards to do damage at the other end. He stayed tight to his man and shadowed him as he looked to find open space out front, and he was able to contest the puck regularly and force turnovers. He was quick to get to the loose puck and he connected well with some nice passing to help move the puck up ice. He evaded forecheckers well by using touch passes to lay the puck off and keep the play heading north and avoiding any potentially threatening turnovers in his own end. His game was more defense oriented than some of his peers and it complimented his team’s play style nicely.
