I think he was the most impressive forward at the camp for me which I was not expecting, I don’t think. He’s been good every time I watched him but my notes were overwhelmingly positive in these views. He flashed lots of controlled passes, concealed snapshots, power and balance, and a nice calm composure to his decision making whether that was slithering into quality secondary space or bursting up the wing with a bit of urgency. More often than not he was looking to be quieter with how he got into space though and could come across without extra urgency. Have to take the positive of that I suppose. I liked his ability to elevate pucks in tight spots, use a split stride in combination with lateral drag moves to bait defenders wide, and seemed to really dominate a lot of the possession categories at this event. He was banking passes to himself off the boards and even feathering passes to himself into potential better shot spots. I’ll have to really focus hard on him for the upcoming viewings.

I noticed off the bat that he was physical along the boards, pushing players to establish position, and really was intentionally looking for those types of interactions early on. There were some real nice skill moves like toe drags in motion around a player while carving on his edges and the ability to shoot cross body while attacking. I also saw a decent amount of him just drifting in neutral moments in a glide and not a lot of quicker pivots or harsher stops/starts. Overall, I thought he performed well against this competition.
