Trevin Vargo is another player on his team who could be seen as the best player from this event for the Jr. Ducks, offering another strong, powerful, and skilled combination of tools and abilities, he was very tough to stop for many teams and defenders. He was one of the best out there at collecting the puck through a scrum in his own end, or the neutral zone, and quickly powering his way up ice with a long stride while his reach, range, and hands avoided any potential troubles as he transitioned across the bluelines. He was able to make powerful moves to the middle, both to get chances from range, along with to drive the crease while holding off a checker. The lateral explosiveness mixed with the dynamic hands made him a lethal threat, as defenders had to result to hauling him down and taking penalties in the process to stop him at times. His footwork and quickness was shown off when handling the puck on the powerplay, zipping around the ice with good pace, he was able to catch defenders sleeping and flatfooted at times because of his lateral mobility and quickness, giving him the leverage, angles, and momentum to drive the net once more, either coming off the wall or from behind the net. Strong in tight to the net as one would expect, he was rewarded with a goal collecting a rebound chance in tight during one of the games. A great showing for Vargo to put his name on the map for the 6’1, 176lb, right-handed centerman.

Vargo was one of the more skilled forwards in this game but really relied on teammates to get him the puck. When Vargo had the puck, he showcased his dynamic stickhandling and a powerful shot that kept defenders on their toes. His goal was a highlight moment, set up by a perfectly timed pass from his teammate. With precision and finesse, Vargo unleashed a beautiful slapshot that brought the Jr. Ducks within one.

Vargo’s game was a thrilling blend of tenacity and skill. He was one of my favorite players because his shifts were full of surprises—one moment he’d dazzle with a slick deke, and the next he’d unleash a powerful hit on opposing players. His ability to seamlessly switch between finesse and physicality made him a standout on the ice. One of my favorite moments of the tournament came during the last game when Columbia Blue found themselves down by five after just ten minutes. While many of his teammates appeared disheartened, Vargo’s determination never wavered. He continued to give his all on every shift, embodying his relentless, tenacious style of play right up until the final whistle. His unwavering effort was a testament to his character and his hard work as a player. Offensively, Vargo was a force to be reckoned with. He thrived by positioning himself right in front of the net, where he made life incredibly tough for defensemen. His ability to get into the crease and capitalize on scoring opportunities in those high-traffic areas led to several well-earned goals. His relentless presence in the slot not only boosted his scoring but also put constant pressure on opposing defenses.

Every time there was a scuffle in front of the net it was a good bet that Vargo was the guy in blue. He was very notable in this game as he was always battling the other team whether it was in front of the net or on the boards. Vargo was very good at winning his board battles and then finding an open teammmate in the slot. He was also noticeable on defense as well making a couple of great plays on the backcheck. Utilizing his physical presence in this one, Vargo’s presence was felt on every shift.
