At this level of competition he’s so big and strong that he can challenge in one on one battles against some of the top tier competition at times and out muscle them. I’ve watched him protect the puck against defenders that we have ranked in the top couple rounds for this draft and draw penalties while doing it. When he is able to use that size and strength to bully smaller opponents and press into shot areas he can unload with a lot of power. The challenge to elevate his play will come with being lighter on his feet and quicker through his edges. It will let him challenge players at 5on5 more efficiently and make him an overall more dangerous two-way player.

The leading scorer for the Canada Crushers at the Kings of Spring event, Blake Saulou made smart plays with the puck on his stick showing off his offensive instincts making him one of key drivers of offense for his team. What stood out early on was his hard and quick release of the puck which made it difficult for opposing goalies to track not just because of the velocity but because of his ability to use the drag and shoot technique to change his release point and get shots through defenders. Around the net, he didn’t hesitate to drive to the net when he carried the puck and was able to sneakily slip passes through unsuspecting opponents whenever the attention of the defense was drawn to him near the blue paint.
