An incredibly fun player to watch for the Boston Jr. Eagles, Peter Lyden was flying around the ice at his best and generating some great scoring chances for others, taking moments of slower-pace and ramping it up to quickly string together some dynamic moves that got defenders scrambling. He was very evasive coming out of corners and along the boards, dodging a couple of heavy bodychecks with well-timed maneuvers, waiting just long enough to force the defender to commit only to escape their grasps at the last second, he was tough to get a hold off and smother as he shifted his way around pressure with good footwork. He was really able to unlock his skating ability in open ice with the puck in this one, gaining the zone and pushing defenders back on their heels as he cut across the ice, pulling off some rapid puck handles to make himself unpredictable and ready at any moment to pull off a move if needed. A play that stuck out was when he landed a rather heavy bodycheck deep in the offensive zone, forced the puck free and walked out into the slot for a great solo-chance. Capable of playing physical when needed, Lyden had a few instances where he played bigger than his size. Capping off some of his skillful bouts of puck moving and handling, Lyden made a sharp stop just inside the offensive zone off the right wing, shaking off his man and fed a trailing Max Prudovsky in the slot to pick up an assist on the 2-0 goal.

Peter Lyden was able to make himself known through quick series of puck handles and strides that gave him a shifty and energetic style of play. He was able to quickly hop on loose pucks and dart up the ice, both in a straight line and whilst coming out of a turn or a series of crossovers. He managed to generate a 2-on-1 chance at an earlier point in the game as he picked up a stray puck in the neutral zone, curled up the ice and sent a pass over his teammate to generate a quality look at the net. He was a nice transporter of the puck in transition for the Boston Jr. Eagles, having a few moments where he was able to rapidly accelerate and create some space off the rush as he gained the zone. With his explosiveness and quick hands, he was rather effective in getting pucks out of tight spaces and into open ice. There certainly a nice level of talent and skill in Lyden’s game, but unfortunately the Mount St. Charles squad played a rather tight-knit defensive game.

Lyden was a major contributor to Mid Fairfield’s offense, consistently helping generate high-quality chances. His strong play started on the power play, where he showed great vision and poise with the puck. He made a couple of sharp cross-ice passes that opened up the defense and created space for his teammates. One of those passes resulted in a goal, earning him a well-deserved assist. Later in the game, he added to the scoresheet with a beautiful shot off the wing, beating the goalie cleanly. His ability to both set up plays and finish them made him a constant threat every time he was on the ice. His performance played a key role in Mid Fairfield’s offensive success.
