Game Information GTHL U16: October Evaluations
Following some impressive views at the Titans Tournament, Godick kept up with the strong play. He was always looking to activate in this one, carrying pucks forward, relying on his mobility to push play up ice and impact the game. Even if there was a constant theme of puck carrying, I didn’t feel like he was trying to do too much and was simply taking the ice given to him and facilitating transitions. He found the back of the net in this game, cracking down the wall and firing from a poor angle that fooled the netminder. Outside of the mobility and assertiveness, I noted a handful of positive defensive sequences, getting stops and winning pucks that made Gavin add value at both ends of the ice. He's been a standout in every view of the Flyers thus far and it was great to see that play continue.

Game Information 2025 Toronto Titans Tournament
Godick’s play was a bit of a mixed bag at times, but when it clicked it really clicked. At the forefront is a mobile defender with a long powerful stride that can get around the ice effortlessly. He was noticeable almost once a shift for how he wanted to use his mobility to activate, carry pucks up ice, and be that puck-rushing style of defender that was always involved up ice. On the defensive side, Gavin was constantly looking to engage and apply contact. He wanted to step in for checks, disrupt plays, and just be always active while defending. On both ends of the puck this desire to be always active was the grand theme, and while sometimes it led to him overextending himself, on the whole it was still an overwhelmingly positive showing.

Godick stood out initially for his physical attributes, the 6'0 frame and solid mobility for a defender is an easy check in my first viewing of a new class. As I continued watching, I noticed some more minor details in his defensive play that added up to a solid performance. He was smart in how he positioned himself when defending rushes and didn't give oncoming attackers much space to operate, routinely applying pressure to shut down plays in the middle third. Gavin connected on a few hits, but I mainly noted him as someone who simply took away options by positioning himself effectively and mirroring attackers with his footwork. Skating and physical tools are some of the first elements I look for in defenders, and add in the stellar defensive play, and it made for a solid first impression.
