EVENT 2024 NWCAA Rocky Mountain Classic
There is so much to like about the electric Artello. He’s currently their leading scorer as a 2011-born player and joins a strong group of young men who should make next year’s draft extremely competitive. First thing you could see in this event is how sure he is on his edges as a puck carrier. He’s constantly moving with his head up, can flash some high-end toe drag attempts off the rush to slip past defenders, and isn’t afraid of the physicality either. He was finishing checks along the boards down low against bigger defenders too. His pace of play is very high; weaving and baiting players wide in order to either out skate them or find ways to center pucks to the slot with purpose.

Game Information CSSHL U15 Prep: Northern Alberta Xtreme vs OHA Edmonton
Tactically, Artello moves at a pacing that is going to be hard to match by many in this draft class. He takes off with a burst in the neutral zone and is constantly looking to attack defenders one on one to create options up ice. I think it can create highlight reel packages but also limits his vision a bit when trying to attack as a unit with delays on the exterior to find passing angles. He has the talent to break open games one on one but sometimes those plays also fall apart or are one and done opportunities when he’s attacking by himself. I think he was as effective or more when they were in the established cycle because he can find better shooting angles with traffic in front or slip in backdoor for a quick release backdoor. The ceiling on a player like Artello is extremely high though because he’s physically and mentally capable of playing slower pacing or top speed. He finished with two goals and an assist and was the most dangerous player for OHA Edmonton consistently. I think his play is going to continue to unfold in layers as the season wears on and I can’t wait.
