There is so much here to work with due to his size, mobility, transition speed, and his ability to step up and be physical and heavy defensively. He blasted through the chest of a player looking to make an easier zone exit real early in the game. Defensively, he tried sprawling attempts to take away seam passes, showed the physicality in the corners when closing on players, and at least flashed a lot of the elements that you’d want to see. Building off that mobility, he can transition plays up ice himself or join the plays backdoor. I loved his 2on1 attempts and his lack of hesitancy to jump up in moments. There were some deferring and some quieter moments where I felt he calmed himself too. It might be about really sensing the moment and the timing for him.
