Housseas was his usual self, showing that confident and assertive game to push play forward and activate up ice. If there was an opportunity, Konstantinos was looking for a moment to jump up with the play or rotate around the offensive zone, he would pounce. Especially in the o-zone, he was always looking to creep in, walk the line, and try to spark offence. He sparked a goal when his powerplay point shot was tipped into the back of the net. This confident and offensively minded theme with Housseas has been ever so apparent since I first started to get to the 2010 Ontario group, but it was great to see yet again.

It was another strong game from Housseas, bringing that offensive leaning style from the back-end. Within the offensive zone, he was always looking to rover around, creep in, and be a part of the attack. Konstantinos had a handful of good chances through this constant o-zone motion, activating to be open in the slot, and catching and releasing from good scoring locations. Under a similar theme, Housseas didn’t hesitate to carry pucks up ice or activating to join the rush, playing more of this rover style in all three zones.

Housseas controlled the game from the back-end on this Majors squad. He was often the one leading play through the neutral zone, acting as a primary puck transporter to carry pucks up ice and generate offensive zone time. Konstantinos exuded patience and confidence when the puck was on his stick, always looking to assert himself up ice and make an impact. My first impression was I was reminded of Erie Otters 4th round pick in 2024, Michael D’Alessio as he was another defender who controlled play from the back-end and didn’t hesitate to activate and carry pucks forward.

Housseas was stellar on all things breakout and getting pucks up ice. He was calm when retrieving pucks, never panicking even when forecheckers were on his back, and routinely hit on his outlet passes. Almost every time he was responsible for a breakout, Team GTA exited with control thanks to his patience to take the extra second to scan for options and connect with a clean pass up to his forwards. Zone exits were easy when Konstantinos was involved, and that’s a great thing to see in my first viewing of a player.

Housseas, the tallest defenseman on the team, fully utilized his size and reach to his advantage. He broke up numerous plays with his stick, using it effectively to disrupt passes and free up pucks without overcommitting to use his body when it wasn’t necessary. What stood out most was his calm demeanor with the puck. He rarely rushed plays or threw the puck blindly up the wall, instead moving his feet to evade pressure and scanning the ice for the best outlet. Housseas also showcased excellent vision, completing several nice stretch passes to set up scoring chances.

Demonstrating some high-end ability at both ends of the ice in bursts, Konstantinos Housseas when playing atop his game was a great two-way defender with good mobility, creativity, and defensive acumen. When he hit his top speed, he showed phenomenal control and poise skating with the puck, stepping around pressure with ease and adapting to changes in opposing defensive structures. He pulled off a few excellent 1-on-1 moves around opponents, in step pulling pucks through feet and or around an outreached defender, he did a great job at creating space on the fly. He did a nice job at using his reach and size to keep a lot of play to the outside, complimented with some good agility and lateral movements, he was tough to get around and shake off. He had a good degree of physicality to his play as well, somewhat lanky in his frame, yet capable of smothering opponents and shutting down play along the wall. When making bold moves with the puck and making the most of his speed he was arguably his most effective, opening upon plenty of space and advantages in transition for his teammates to work off of.

The top player in this one, Konstantinos Housseas was a dominant force at both ends of the ice, highlighted by excellent speed and power to his movements, he was a 200-foot force. He first made his impact by showing some good agility when escaping pressure, weaving through crowds and bodies when pressured, when there was no other option available to him, Housseas showed a great ability to protect the puck and slip through traffic. He pulled off some daring moves high in the zone on a somewhat regular basis, showing excellent dynamism and puck controls. Freezing defenders and slipping into shooting lanes high in the zone was some of his more impactful plays. As the game went on he became more-and-more active in transitions with the puck, and was even rewarded with a goal following up a rebound to the net, scoring the 5-1 goal for his team. In tight areas he was one of the best players, and with some somewhat congested areas of the ice, and scrambly, broken plays, he was able to make something out of nothing, settle bobbling pucks, and make accurate passes through chaotic scrums.
