Week 1 Recruiting Recap: 4.5 Star MJ Campbell Commits To Notre Dame

Here are the biggest storylines and standout commitments from August 1-8.

If you missed our coverage of the first day for NCAA commitments, we broke that all down in a separate article (here), so this one will primarily serve as coverage for the remainder of the first week.

MJ Campbell Chooses Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish picked up a commitment from 4.5-star forward MJ Campbell, who is the No. 19-ranked American skater and No. 30-ranked forward in the 2010 birth year. The Frankfort, Illinois native put up monster numbers with the Mount St. Charles Academy 15U team, scoring 45 goals and 101 points in 51 games played.

In terms of his skillset, Campbell's vision and playmaking immediately stand out when you watch him. He has an innate ability to carve his way through layers of defense with the puck, quickly changing the angle of attack within the offensive zone.

Campbell will play for the Chicago Steel in the USHL for the 2025-26 season.

Boston College Lands 4.5-Star Forward

Boston College got on the board with a commitment from 4.5-star forward Jack Queally. The Milton, Massachusetts native is the No. 27-ranked American skater and No. 46-ranked forward in this class. He split the 2025-26 season between the Neponset Valley River Rats 15U, scoring 26 goals and 52 points, and St. Sebastian's School, where he put up 16 goals and 37 points. Queally will suit up for the U.S. National Team Development Program U-17 team this fall.

Yale Continues Haul

After landing commitments from four players on August 1, Yale continued their strong start to the window, landing 2008-born goaltender Arvin Jaswal. The Pickering, Ontario native, who has terrific size at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, had a really strong first season in the OHL last year. With the Barrie Colts, Jaswal posted a 2.45 goals-against average and .922 save percentage with a pair of shutouts in 24 appearances.

3.5-Star Poti Chooses Quinnipiac

The Bobcats secured a commitment from 3.5-star defender Tyler Poti. The Sandwich, Massachusetts native offers a big frame at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. With The Winchendon School last season, he posted one goal and 17 points in 33 games. For his size, Poti can really skate. He leverages his mobility with length and size to close gaps to shut down plays. Offensively, he's a solid puck mover and does well as a setup man. Poti will play for the Islanders Hockey Club Prep East this fall. His junior rights are held by Cedar Rapids in the USHL and Rouyn-Noranda in the QMJHL.
