He waited for the knockout stages to really get himself involved, but Robin Kuzma put forth an unforgettable performance in the final game. From his first shift he was playing aggressive on the forecheck and forcing the defense to rush passes and turn it over. He threatened early on using his speed to push the defense back and get himself some good shooting opportunities off the rush. He made a nice darting move to the net and Aurelio Garcia found him with a great pass that he was able to steer on goal to open up the scoring. He was a catalyst all game, getting some high quality chances in the second period as he looked to add to his goal total and put Long Island away early, but the goalie made some great saves to prevent that from happening. His second goal was a great individual effort to get down below the right circle and with some neat puck handling and sharp edgework to hit the brakes he was able to get a great look and beat Jordan Valcich for the second time in the game. He capped off his stellar performance with an empty net goal from the center line to complete his hat trick. Kuzma was the best player on the ice for pretty much the entirety of this game.

A number of dynamic plays from Robin Kuzma made him an impact player for Chicago in this one, stemming from his very good play to help open the scoring. He used his speed to burn the defense all game and he created separation with some quick acceleration and gained a step to the outside where he was able to find Buchanan for the opening goal. He had several plays like that where he was able to use his speed and get his head up to find passing lanes and feed the puck across ice to an open man. He had the third goal of the opening period after he was able to knock the puck off the stick of a Rockets defender and hunt it down before uncorking a lethal wrister from the right circle and beating the goalie. He continued to use that speed to dash into areas and receive the puck, getting a few more shots away and testing the netminder.
