This was probably the best game I saw Barnett play in this tournament and he couldn’t have picked a better time to deliver this type of performance. He looked really solid in his own end, reading plays well and stepping up to the puck carrier quickly to limit his options and getting his stick in to knock the puck into the corners where he could comfortably gather possession. He defended nicely off the rush and he made a couple of big stops on odd man rushes. He was moving well in his own end and opposing players had difficulty getting around him, but his skating also made it very easy to spring zone exits as he gathered the puck in a fluid motion using great edgework to begin the transition up ice. He passed the puck extremely well and I thought he was key to facilitating the play in the offensive zone by pinging passes around the ice. He stepped up and had a nice shot as well that caused some trouble out front and showed he can be a threat in that regard as well.
