Jordan Malette
Regional Scout - Ontario
Projection: Top pair defender Projectable skills: Puck moving, transition play, well-rounded game Development Opportunities: Lateral mobility Callum is the backbone of the Oakville Rangers blueline and at the core of so much of their success. Croskery brings a little bit of everything to the table, and the well-roundedness of his game is the selling point. Whether it's suppressing chances against, moving pucks out of his end, or chipping in offensively, Callum can contribute in almost every area. However, if I had to identify one standout attribute, it's his ability to move the puck up ice. Retrievals and breakouts are so easy on Croskery's stick, and he can consistently find paths to controlled zone exits. Callum is tendered with the Chicago Steel of the USHL, so his status on draft day will be a question mark, but he's undoubtedly among the top '08 Ontario defenders. Callum's skating certainly isn't a limiting factor for the junior level, but to me, it's the one area that I think will unlock more and more potential in the longer term. Adding more lateral agility and getting quicker in his turns are areas that will help him remain evasive against the quicker and faster competition at the junior ranks and beyond.
