One of the players who stood out to me early on for Long Island was Kevin Lysohir, he was getting on the puck frequently and looking to drive it up ice with speed and coming off the boards to attack the center lane. He handled the puck well and was able to work himself into pockets of space, and he implemented some neat drop passes to leave the puck for his teammates as he drove the defense back and created a shooting lane. He showed a good nose for where to go in the zone and accelerated into space well. He went a little quiet in the middle, but later on when his team were pushing back he became a factor again.

It only took me a couple of shifts to realize Lysohir was one of the Gulls more talented and dynamic forwards. The way he controls the pucks at high speeds in conjunction with his powerful skating stride makes him such an effective puck transporter. He was consistently gaining the zone for the Gulls all game long and establishing offensive zone possession time which lead to sustained pressure. There were some flashes of intriguing playmaking as well, such as no-look backhand passes to the slot that even caught his teammates off guard. Some of the execution in his play was off today I found, such as taking poor routes as a puck carrier after gaining the zone or sending passes into traffic. Despite this, the skill definitely popped, and I can see him becoming a more consistent and dominant force as the tournament progresses.
