I like Gavin Callahan’s game, he’s an intelligent defender who consistently puts himself in a strong position to make plays against the rush and prevent pucks from getting in behind him. He keeps his head up and his stick active, and he does a nice job intervening at the right time, and making some well timed steps in the offensive end to keep the attack going. He has good attacking instincts and likes to creep down low at times and get involved in the passing game down as well as getting some shooting chances for himself. He uses his skating ability well to attack and defend, and he processes the game at a high level and is able to make intelligent plays regularly.

The play of Gavin Callahan was another reason they were able to limit the quality of LA’s scoring chances so effectively. His positioning was very solid and he used his stick well to keep pucks from getting to the intended targets and quickly worked to get the puck up ice. He made a few nice jumps into the rush and attacked with good speed and agility to gain space to the outside and look to get down towards the goal line as he turned his head towards the slot to pick out a pass. He had a nice play where he drove towards the goal line with speed and either tried to stuff it in at the near post or feed it back against his momentum as he circled the net, but it was a very clever play either way.
