After missing the OMHA Championships, I was eager to get a final look at Fitzgerald before the season's end, and he did not disappoint, finishing tied for the tournament lead in points with 13 in 6 games. There's a lot I can say here, but I think the big thing is how much more impact he made at 5v5 relative to past viewings. I've always known Fitzgerald to be the lethal piece to the Petes' powerplay, but there have been many games where he's been outshined at even strength by some of his teammates. Over the OHL Cup, he was way more impactful at 5v5, making him the easy choice for the Petes' MVP. I noted Colin as the one dictating the game in transition, being the Petes primary puck carrier, and setting up the attack in the offensive zone. Off the rush, he was lethal, whether it was driving toward the net himself or finding open passing lanes, Fitzgerald created consistently off his rush chances. There were much fewer shots from the exterior, and I thought he did an excellent job at finding ways to get premium scoring chances from the dangerous parts of the ice. Of course, Colin showed his finishing touch, scoring plenty of goals, but seeing a significant impact as a playdriver and playmaker was what impressed me most with his performance. Colin's a very powerful skater with the ever-so-desirable finishing touch, and even if he sits a bit lower on my list than he likely goes on draft day, the group from 7 to 15 on my list is incredibly tight, so I can totally see the case for him to be closer to the top of that tier.
