The defense corps of Team Savard as a whole was very impressive to watch but Delarosbil especially as he seemed to put his stamp on each and every game with his physicality and defensive prowess. He’s a defenseman who plays with an edge, looking to cut off plays down low by using his body to separate his opponents from the puck or even on the rush by guiding opposing forwards towards the outside and slowly closing the gap before finishing them off with a hard hit along the boards. He is extremely poised with the puck on his stick and when combined with his skating ability allows him to be a reliable puck mover as well as he can calmly evade pressure from forecheckers with sudden spins, quick changes of direction or by carrying the puck out of the zone himself using his legs. In the offensive zone, he’s a good distributor of the puck with a hard shot that he likes to use from the blue line when he sees traffic in front of the net and I could see Delarosbil shooting up some draft boards after his performance at this event due to his style of play and competitive nature that will surely entice some organizations.

There were many things Delarosbil was able to do in this game that make me believe he will translate so well to the next level such as his smooth skating ability, his composure with the puck and his physicality while defending. He moves so seamlessly on the ice which allowed him to escape pressure with quick turns or by accelerating and beating forecheckers with his speed while also showing great composure in the defensive zone, scanning the ice for passing options and making firm tape-to-tape outlet passes but if he didn’t see an option, he often skated away from pressure and circled back behind his own net to regroup and setup the breakout. Below the goal line, I thought he was very engaged physically trying to close out players with his body along the boards and battling hard for loose pucks. In the offensive zone, he was a great distributor of the puck at the blue line and managed to get hard low shots through traffic and onto the net for second chance opportunities.
