St-Gelais was one of the more effective performers for Team Bergeron from start to finish, consistently driving play in the right direction through strong puck-carrying in transition and setting up his linemates with impressive vision in the offensive zone. I thought he did a good job of skating into space in the neutral zone, receiving hard passes in stride and gaining the zone with speed before making a shrewd pass to an open linemate to set up a lengthy offensive zone possession. He was consistently spotting open options off the cycle as well, threading pucks through sticks and traffic to feed teammates in the middle of the ice to set up high-danger chances. He was a hound over loose pucks in the offensive zone as well, often winning 1v1 battles along the boards to generate puck touches for himself before taking it to the middle and showcasing his impressive shooting acumen and creating rebounds out in front.

I thought St-Gelais flashed plenty of versatility in his offensive approach throughout this contest, beating defenders with his hands, winning battles for loose pucks and flashing high-level shooting mechanics. He had some strong moments as a puck-carrier as well, taking good routes into space in the neutral zone which allowed him to gain the offensive blueline and set up lengthy offensive zone sequences for his line on a consistent basis. On-puck in the offensive zone I thought he did a good job of finding passing options through traffic and flashing a strong playmaking acumen to thread pucks through sticks and bodies to teammates in scoring areas. He kept his feet moving constantly in the OZ as well, which allowed him to win races to loose pucks to extend possession or pressure opposing defenders, force turnovers and regain the puck back before distributing to an open teammate.
