Ludovic will easily be a fan favorite because he gives you that flash, one on one battle, and burst of excitement in small moments to make a ton of a difference. This season, he thrived by stripping players of the puck in key moments and pouncing on loose pucks in order to spring rushes and drive play down deep. His high-end hand eye coordination allows him to settle pucks quickly, adjust his passing and shot angles, and catch goaltenders off guard with little fakes and proper timing to his decisions. His biggest setback at the moment is that he operates in determined short bursts up ice instead of long, lengthy strides but that really doesn’t matter that much. He is still extremely effective in small bursts and can mold his game to adapt to linemates while continuing to always push the pace and badger defenders. He’s one of the best at making incredible plays in motion by passing from behind his hip pocket or shooting from a posture of dual threat pass and shoot potential. He’s always looking for ways to be first to a puck, stick lift and finish a check to win position, or battle through physical and stick pressure. He’s what you’d call a true gamer.

If you’ve watched a game with Ludovic in it, trust me you won’t miss him. He seems to always bring the energy through zone entries and exploding towards pucks through neutral zone play. His explosive and fleet-of-foot stride allows him ample separation space off the rush and allows him to slip into shooting space or show off how dangerous of a scorer he is with breakaway chances. When he’s at top speed, he can push and carve laterally to avoid checks and keep his momentum so that it appears he’s slicing through pressure. While his tendency as a smaller player is to protect the puck on the exterior, he’s also not afraid of toe drags and slipping to the inside on defenders who don’t give him enough credit. Ludovic is currently producing over two goals a game in the WAAAU15 and held his own very nicely in a spring tournament I caught.

This was my first viewing of Perreault, and he made a fan of me almost immediately. He isn’t a big player, but he makes up for it with high effort and understated skill. He is sturdy on his feet and strong on his stick, absorbing pressure before darting out of traffic with control. He excels at getting his head up even in the thick of it and can make plays in tight spaces. His assist in this game was a beautiful one touch, between the legs, tip pass from behind the net to the slot as his defender rimmed the puck around in the offensive zone. His stickwork is also a strength as he is comfortable in the opponent’s triangle and gets interior working under sticks.
