Kamron Robinson
Regional Scout - USA
Guo was a mobile defenseman who used his physical tools and athleticism to make plays at both ends of the rink. I thought he was a bit conservative at the start of the combine but eventually came out of his shell as a puck carrier, using his explosive strides to execute controlled exits out of his own end and spearhead plays up the ice in transition. On the defensive side of the puck, his swift yet powerful lateral movements made him a stout rush defender as he was often able to force his opponents to the outside, keeping them in low danger areas of the offensive zone while also showing that he wasn’t afraid to step up on puck carriers and close them off along the boards with a solid body check.

He was excellent today and I wrote down so many positive little notes that come from his ability to use his adaptive feel for the ice alongside his balance and agility. He started with some nicely timed stick pokes, drove the puck up ice on 2on2 momentum and was able to evade pressure enough to drag and score too. He had a quick redirection one-touch shot. His open balance and posture allows him to still see the ice and set himself up for success. He can get full, loaded power on his individual pushes as well which lets him cut off defensive rushes and follow up with physicality too.
