Anthony was at his best throughout this event with the puck on his stick, processing his options quickly and executing difficult passes to dangerous areas. He could execute these feeds on both his forehand and backhand, while using deception and subtle fakes to open up new lanes for a split second so he could thread pucks through them, making him more difficult to contain as a transitional attacker in the process. Off-puck I thought he was doing a great job of leveraging his speed to win plenty of races to loose pucks and keep his feet moving upon retrieval to shake any big defenders closing down on him. This led to plenty of prolonged offensive zone sequences and chances generated off the cycle. Anthony also did a good job of pressuring opposing defenders and using quick stick checks to strip them of the puck and create a quick counterattack the other way. Despite his size he wasn’t shy to get himself to the front of the net, where he was able to score a couple of goals by pouncing on loose pucks in the crease area.

I enjoyed Anthony Sargo’s game over the course of Selects camp, the diminutive forward played a surprisingly strong and aggressive game for someone who found himself physically outmatched on most occasions. He was very strong on the forecheck with his tenacious attitude in pestering puck carriers, forcing mistakes from the opposition and causing turnovers. His work extended to the backcheck as well, quickly hunting players down and never giving up on plays, and he made it look so easy to pickpocket unsuspecting puck carriers and turn the puck up ice on the counter attack. He was an extremely confident puck carrier, driving hard at players one on one and earning space to the outside and looking to identify passing lanes into the slot. I was hoping to see maybe a little more of a spark on offense or getting more involved in generating chances, but I still really liked his play style and thought he was able to find ways to impact the game.

Another Pittsburgh forward to make the top-40 list, Anthony Sargo is just another reason as to why this Pittsburgh team went as far as they did in this tournament. He was very effective in transition, drawing defenders to him during zone entries and finding ways to slip pucks through to teammates streaking down the middle of the ice. Without the puck, he did a good job at sliding into open space and being an option for the puck carrier and combined with his playmaking ability helped him create chances off give-and-go plays. He always seemed to be in the middle of the action when there were loose pucks around the net, getting lost behind defenders and swooping in at opportune times to cause havoc around the blue paint and create second chance opportunities.

Anthony Sargo was fun to watch in this one, flashing his speed and skill on the puck as he confidently drove at the defense looking to break them down. He took play to the inside or outside, whichever was available to him, and was able to gain a step on the defense and find opportunities to feed the puck to the slot or fire on goal. His speed aided him in his defensive work as well, hunting down players on the back check and quickly applying pressure to them as he picked pockets or knocked pucks away. His tenacity was smothering and the opposition had a very tough time dealing with his persistence and ability to force turnovers.

I liked how decisive and efficient Sargo was with the puck in the offensive zone. He made a couple of nice passes to the middle of the ice on zone entries by drawing in defensemen and slipping it through their stick and had also made a nice give-and-go play with his brother, Alexander, on the powerplay where they executed it extremely quick going from behind the net to the front of the net, but Anthony just missed on the short side. He picked up an assist early in the third period when he parked himself in front of the net received a quick pass from Drotos that he tried to deflect through the five hole and was buried by his brother on the ensuing rebound.
