Geiger was arguably the best defenseman for Team Columbia Blue. He very rarely made mistakes if ever in all four games. Geiger was really fun to watch in the offensive zone as his vision from the blue line was incredible. Geiger never rushed his shots, only firing from the blue line when there were no other options or when he was confident he could get it through traffic. He excelled at finding sticks in front of the net, demonstrating an incredible ability to execute slap passes that were very effective more often than not. Geiger was also excellent in the defensive zone, delivering precise breakout passes that often led to scoring opportunities earning him some of his assists. Geiger made great use of his size, whether it was punishing players in the defensive zone or shielding the puck from opponents. I really appreciated how he utilized his size over opposing teams.

Ben Geiger initially caught my eye thanks to his strong forward stride, and overall power, all packed into a lengthy frame, with good reach and mobility, suffocating play, along with quickly transporting the puck. He had some good reads in the offensive zone creeping down to the top of the circles, getting in passing lanes, and wiring shots on goal through open shooting lanes. When handling the puck in the offensive zone he was able to hold off some pressure fairly well along the half-wall, whether it be through some evasive maneuvers pushing the puck wide out of reach, or battling off a checker, keeping his feet and hands moving, as he slipped around and went for a skate around the perimeter of the offensive zone. His wingspan and stick made him strong at both protecting pucks, along with taking up ice on the defensive side of things, knocking pucks off sticks, covering up lanes, and keeping opponents from the middle of the ice. Some good physical tools had also allowed him to smother play in the corners, dig pucks out of feet and bodies, and begin transitioning the puck out of the defensive zone.

Benjamin wasn’t very flashy, but he showed a lot of poise both on and off the puck. He was able to get himself in between the puck and his net often, pushing attackers to play along the boards which slowed down rushes, and showed a strong ability to pass. Though he didn’t drive many offensive plays, his ability to get the puck out of the defensive zone and secure neutral ice possession led to a lot of offensive rushes by teammates. Looked like a reliable two-way defender.

Geiger was one of the better defenseman on his team. He has a very calm nature to his game. It seemed like every time he had the puck something good was going to happen and he very rarely made a mistake. He had an assist on a great pass in the zone leading to a 2 on 1 in which his teammates would go on to score. Geiger was not flashy but just played a really solid two way game.
