Jordan Malette
Regional Scout - Ontario
Mitchell took over almost every time he was on the ice. He was incredibly assertive, commanding the puck, and just wanted to take control. Caleb was nonstop activating to join the play and didn't hesitate to rush the puck if there was an opportunity. Through this eagerness to take control, Mitchell was easily the Petes' most impactful player in transition, carrying it end to end so many times. His puck skills and mobility worked in tandem to evade any forecheckers, navigate around defenders, and solve any problem necessary to move pucks up ice. As expected, with these skills, Mitchell was impactful in the offensive zone and was their primary quarterback on the power play. His ability to control the puck, walk the line, and create separation from defenders allowed him to succeed in these offensive zone situations to make everything tick on the Petes' powerplay. I wrote about this after my viewings at the Steve Richey, but it's been great to see Mitchell shine and remind me why I was so high on him in the early days of the season, further cementing his spot in my rankings in the 2nd round range.
