Schmidt was a little rocket ship when on the ice. He was simply impossible to ignore on a ton of shifts. While known as a shooter by many, some of his playmaking elements were on display as well, leading and baiting with his shooting threat, he drags pressure around the offensive zone well with absolutely lethal finishing ability. He was chipping in in the defensive zone more than many might expect, creating breakouts for others and running give and goes as he probably will need to in the future. His quickness is high end, but he just takes up such a small area of the ice and can have gaps closed on him so quickly. The shot selection was a little more questionable in Oshawa to me, but he still was a player baiting and leading with his shot and distributing the puck better than I expected. His pace of play is enormous and he was in more than his fair share of scrums all over the ice. The evasiveness is there, the fun factor was there, and he was certainly one of the more exciting, fun to watch CHL players on the ice.
