Once again, Hicks was the focal point of every viewing of the London Jr. Knights. His mobility and confidence were both at the heart of what he was doing, as Carter had all the four-way mobility required to problem-solve his way out of any situation and had the ambition to pull it off. It didn't matter where he was on the ice, Hicks was able to dodge, spin, or turn away from any pressure and dominate as a puck carrier. All week long, he was finding ways to carry the puck out of his end and into the offensive third, all revolving around his footwork. Hicks was the bright spot to the Knights' transition game, resorting to fewer uncontrolled plays than I've noted in the past, which was great to see throughout my final evaluations of his play. Hicks has been a fascinating player to watch this year, and someone I've thought has all the potential in the world, so seeing things come together at the end of the year was a great way to finish off the season.

Hicks was a player I noted a bit in the last game but didn’t quite make my report. That’s not the case in this one. A really, really strong performance from him showcasing some impressive lateral skating ability, patrolling the ice with ease and never looking uncomfortable on a given shift. Even when teammate Ethan Belchetz barreled into him, he tied him up and took him right to the ice with him, preventing puck possession and getting bailed out by his partner. He opens gaps with ease and uses his skating ability to unlock so much potential as an impact player. It increased his view of the ice significantly, making breakouts and offensive zone cycles easier, and he just looked like a strong stabiliser for Canada Red in the face of some premier talent on Canada White. He was effective in the offensive zone picking off a few errant breakout attempts, and kept up with highly skilled opponents with footwork and stick checks, blocking transitions well. Another solid game in a losing effort from a balanced defenseman.
