Puck Preps
In the long term, Gauthier may end up being the second best forward in the 2004 American group behind only Minnesota's Maddox Flemming. At 6'1 180 already (still hasn't hit puberty), Gauthier will be the next great pro to come out of Boston College. His long-term projection will be that of a Matt Boldy. Both are remarkably similar with big frames and the ability to make plays. Gauthier has always played with older competition like his Detroit Compuware U16 teammate Tyler Duke, putting both in a position to be immediate impact players on the US NTDP U17 team. He is a power forward who can make plays and knows how to use his body and frame to protect the puck. He is a kid that knows what he is at a young age. Gauthier will not beat you by stick handling through a sub bar HPHL dman, he will beat you moving the puck to another player and then will beat that dman to the soft area of the ice resulting in the puck being in the back of the net. He has the IQ and hockey sense that will take a 6'1 elite skating frame far in the hockey world. He is poised to be a star at the NTDP and BC and is the type of player teams win with.
