Alex Annun
Regional Scout - USA
The playmaking ability of Gabriel Belanger was on display during the weekend, his edgework was excellent and enabled him to keep his body squared to the play in front of him and maintain the maximum number of passing options. He found open teammates well and was responsible in his decision making, not going for homerun passes but pushing the envelope from time to time and hitting the tape. He found himself getting plenty of shooting opportunities as well after distributing the puck so much, and he began to take more and more of those shooting chances as they presented themselves. He added bits of deception into his game in order to sell the pass before taking a step or two in and letting a shot rip. His shot was packed with lethality as it was accurate, powerful, and came with a quick release that made it very difficult for goalies to prepare for. He followed up plays well and earned plenty of rebound opportunities, using bursts of speed to beat the opposition to those loose pucks. There was a lot to like about Belanger’s game and he was an impactful player for Little Caesars throughout.
