Regional Scout - USA
One of my favorite players from this event was Henry Buttweiler, he was incredibly dangerous with the puck on his stick and enjoyed pushing the pace of play. He had excellent straight line speed but he was able to really do damage with his lateral mobility as he cut across lanes extremely well to open up the ice for himself. His composure on the puck was apparent as he attacked head on and stick handled the puck right under the noses of the defense in his efforts to slip by. He distributed the puck well in transition, keeping his head up and taking note of the options laid out before him, and he was quick to follow his pass and get himself into good supporting areas to receive a return pass. He was trusted as a primary puck carrier who proved to be a catalyst in transition, constantly setting plays in motion and breaking down the defense with an incisive first pass or his speed. His footwork was impressive as he maneuvered away from pressure, and he protected the puck very well and quickly fired shots coming out of his guarded stance with slight adjustments to his shooting angles. He powered his way to the net on a few occasions using that ability to protect the puck and some bursts of speed to gain a step and find space down low to dip his shoulder and get in tight. Overall he was one of the most impactful players out there and consistently seemed to inject life into his side when he was on the ice.
