A similar player to Sammy Smith, Eilers is a small forward who is a buzz saw on the ice. Constantly moving his feet, Eilers is all over the ice making his presence felt. He is fast and quick, making him difficult to contain off the rush and through the neutral zone. Eilers keeps his game simple with the puck, limiting turnovers and playing a grittier style of game. His offensive presence will develop as he gains more confidence throughout his rookie year. He currently has a +2 rating on a last place Jets team who has a –48 goal differential on the season.
