Mailloux came into the year as a bit of an unknown despite his status as a high OHL Draft pick of the London Knights, due to playing last season in the Jr. A ranks. With a move to the third-tier pro HockeyEttan, Mailloux has more than proven he’s ready to graduate to the OHL. He is a good skater for such a physically mature teenager, showing good instincts to jump into the offense and look off short, easy outlets to make the tougher outlet pass and create a scoring opportunity. While his aggressive nature can lead to turnovers at times, he is a good enough open-ice skater to cover for his own mistakes. He loves to play physical as well, finishing his checks hard and showing a nasty side along the boards and in front of the net. Mailloux still has yet to set foot on OHL ice but he has an intriguing package of tools and plays a desirable role as a right-handed defenseman with some offensive upside and effective physical play. He is a player whose stock could be most affected by a potential loss of an OHL season, as he could play an important role for an OHL contender in London as soon as the league restarts.
