Michael Risteau immediately jumps out as one of BSM’s impact players and someone the team relies on in key situations. He has a solid game in all three zones and he can be seen breaking up some key passes in the defensive zone. Occasionally caught watching the puck on defense, Risteau does a good job positioning himself in the slot and keeping an active stick. On the puck Risteau is smooth bringing it up the ice and likes to attack with pace, using his edgework he can change up the speed and sit back and pick out a pass. He engages in puck battles along the boards and uses his low center of gravity to keep hold of the puck before sending the puck into the slot for a chance. He has a good shot and can catch goalies out from distance, his shot is strong and accurate and if you give him space to let one rip he will take you up on that offer. Risteau plays an intelligent game and likes to possess the puck and not force the issue, he doesn’t do too much with it and likes to circulate it around the offensive end and allow chances to develop organically.
