Regional Scout - USA
The first Gull I want to talk about is defenseman Nicholas Di Marco, he used his long strides effectively to get up the ice and support his team on the rush or lead them himself by carrying possession through the neutral zone. He aided in the transition game with his skating ability, but it all started with his work down low in the corners where he was able to impose himself physically to tie players up, throw a hit to knock puck carriers off balance, and use his stick well in a battle for the puck. He was able to win possession of the puck and feed it up the ice quickly to send his team on the attack. I found him to be positioned well and he displayed good patience as he allowed the puck carriers to make the first move before he would react and make his counter move. He closed plays down quickly and did well to direct incoming attackers to the outside and limit the high danger chances.
