Alex Annun
Regional Scout - USA
The vision that Nicholas Ware showed from the back end was important to helping his team quickly move up the ice and take advantage of pockets of space that the defense was leaving for them. He recognized tight passing windows and was able to accurately feed the puck through and make sure they were able to capitalize on opportunities. He played the pivot role well in the offensive end, receiving and distributing the puck rapidly and calmly while using his footwork to continue altering his angles to find avenues to the front of the net. He moved well without possession and popped up underneath that first layer of high forecheckers where he could receive the puck and turn a shot towards goal. He showed the ability to hang on to the puck and stroll around the attacking zone, using nice stick handling and edgework to keep himself in possession while deciding on what his next move would be. He got on the puck frequently and looked to make a difference where he could, even if it was just making a timely pinch to keep the puck pinned in the zone for the offense.
