Despite some of the struggles his team faced throughout the tournament I thought Greene was one of the lone bright spots, specifically on the offensive side of things. He was able to leverage his individual skill at times to beat defenders in one on one situations to break into the interior of the ice and create odd man advantages for himself and his linemates in condensed areas of the ice. He flashed some really strong work along the perimeter with the puck on his stick as well by anticipating and spinning away from pressure with quick pivots, battling and dealing with contact well and generating space for himself before executing passes to the interior. The high-end skilled plays aside, what impressed me the most about Greene’s game was his ability to consistently create turnovers on the forecheck by utilizing his foot speed to get in quickly on defenders, generate puck touches for himself and turn it into quick offence by either executing a quick pass to the middle of the ice or firing a puck on net looking to create off rebounds or deflections.

Norman Greene was another piece of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres top 6 forward group and often played the role of going to the dirty areas of the ice, both in the corners, along with in the slot to win pucks and use his power, reach, and control to generate some chances through traffic. Carrying the puck in transition he was able to navigate around bodies with ease going directly up the middle, a controlled and powerful stride helped him build speed and give him some room to work with upon gaining the line. Every now and then he’d take this speed wide and cut back in, driving the crease, there was mixed results in terms of effectiveness, but at times he’d get the shot off and if not score, at least generate a second chance for any teammates following up the play. Although in the views witnessed Greene didn’t score as much as one may expect, the systematic attempt to utilize his size, power, and hands, to make plays under pressure and where its difficult to play in, was encouraging to see.
