Schmitz found several different ways to find the back of the net in this game. His first goal, he used his great edge work to smoothly pivot out of the corner before making a move past the defender and tucking one under the bar with his heavy shot. A real goal scorer’s goal. On the second, he found himself jockeying for position in front of the net and getting a couple whacks at the loose puck before finally finding the net. He completed his hat trick in the third, taking a drop pass from Jonas Kemps and working past two defenders and getting a shot through on that in reality the goalie should have had.
