Rutger has dominated every team he has ever been on. Putting up make believe stat lines since he was a squirt. How will he handle the adversity of it not coming so easily? He is a kid who has been scoring at a pace of almost 2-4 points a game for the better part of his entire life. How will he handle the dog days of junior hockey and going a weekend without a point? Maybe he will continue to dominate and that will not happen for him. To me that is the pivotal point for McGroarty on if he will just be a good draft pick, college player, pro, or will he take that step to being a superstar. Needs to learn how to defend and play a complete game. Has always been coached by his father who is a world class coach but needs new influence. The reason I have him 50/50 on going to the OHL or NCAA is I see Rutger wanting to be a pro. If he is struggling in the USHL and Team USA I could see him jumping to the OHL where he can have more offensive freedom. The one thing USA is hard on is teaching kids how to play a 200-foot game. Rutger can score, we all know that. He is dynamic with the puck and uses his feet and hands to create separation. Has all the tools to be a big-time player at the next level.
