He really made waves early in the fall as a well-rounded two-way pivot. You always get a consistency of effort to sneak and battle into proper positioning, above average hand-eye coordination, and an improving depth of skating stride; able to build power and fluidity in all directions. He provides great positioning on his puck support, gets his stick in plays to disrupt the flow defensively, and can offer a shot release in stride off both feet. Smyth is a very dependable and rapidly improving player.
