Boumedienne didn’t show as flashy as some of his teammates but his game, based on steady play and reading the play, is just as effective at getting desirable results. Boumedienne is always involved and always around the play. He’s quick and proactive, taking very efficient routes which can make him look like a minimalist at times but whether it be creating turnovers or getting into a pocket for a shot, the decision he’s made is usually a second ahead. I found him to be very efficient and calculated with the puck on his stick and showed he could maneuver under pressure and modify his speed for the situation. Very good touch around the net and will pay the price to create room for others.

Wilson Boumedienne was a monster on the forecheck, I lost track of how many times he was able to steal the puck or force a turnover from the other teams. He was tenacious, quick to close players down, and simply smothered them until there was no way for them to escape with possession. These efforts led to a number of chances at the other end of the ice for his team across each of the games. He accelerated well away from opposing players and used his hands to create added space for himself to operate in as he identified passing lanes and showcased his passing ability. When he looked to drive the net I was impressed with his control of the puck in close quarters, dancing through the series of sticks in front of him and staying with the play as he continued taking space. He moved very well off the puck and was able to consistently get open and find himself on the receiving end of passes that he could turn into shots on target. His awareness in the offensive zone and timeliness to follow up plays as the trailing man or crashing the net for rebounds was notable as well. Boumedienne’s impressive combination of skills on both sides of the puck and ability to process the game make him an integral part of this team.
