The team’s top point scorer was Wyatt Shunk who accumulated seven points over the four games, and I think it reflects how effective he was on the ice. He stood out with some very strong offensive play; he was able to be strong around the netfront area where he displayed his ability to finish off plays while fending off defenders. He handled the puck well in close quarters, avoiding the searching sticks of defenders and was able to make the adjustments necessary to work himself a little pocket of space to muster up a shot on goal. His release was quick so he only needed a brief moment to get his shots off, and his ability to find pockets of space without the puck allowed him to prepare to receive the puck before quickly directing it towards goal. This was incredibly effective because defenders were unable to close him down due to the speed at which he was able to get his shot off once the puck landed on his stick. I liked the way he read the game, it was clear that he was processing play quicker than some of the other players and he was able to catch defenders sleeping with a pass in behind or make a darting movement to exploit an opening in the defense. Overall, it was a very strong attacking-minded game from Wyatt Shunk and his ability to break the game down in front of him made him a huge threat to the opposition.
