EVENT November HEO Check-In
I've been paying specific attention to Campeau over the three Wild games I went to in November, so there's a lot I could say here, but I'll focus on the most recent game. In their Nov. 23 game against the Cyclones, Campeau was just using his tools way more to spark offensive chances. He was using delays, buying time with hands, and controlling play on the exterior of the offensive zone to then set up scoring chances with his passing game. I've seen him try to find success in this regard many times before, but things were just clicking more against the Cyclones, and he was closed down way less often along the boards. I thought he did a way better job at protecting pucks to the outside, using his frame and bursts of speed to beat defenders wide and cut in for scoring chances. All around, it was just a more impressive performance, and when things are going right like this, it makes it easy to get excited about his potential. Campeau is well on my radar to include in my OHL Draft rankings at some point, and the more games I see like this, the more likely I am to add him sooner rather than later.

Game Information HEO Playoffs
As always with a viewing of the Wild, Campeau was the primary offensive creator and everything flowed through him. His ability to handle pucks in motion was at the core of it all, carrying pucks through the middle of the ice, weaving in and out of defenders and crossing the blueline with control. Within the offensive zone, he was controlling the puck along the perimeter well, showing patience to allow plays to develop and wait for a passing lane to open up, hitting his linemates on the interior for plenty of scoring chances, adding one assist in the process. I thought he could have attacked the net more, but it was still a solid performance showcasing his high-end passing game and physical tools that land him as a noteworthy prospect.

Game Information HEO U16: Ottawa Myers vs. Eastern Ontario Wild
Entering the year, I knew Campeau was one of the top players to watch on the Wild, so I was interested in paying close attention to him in my first view of his team. It didn't take long to see what his game was all about, as within the first few shifts, he flashed his high-end puck skills to impressively dangle around a defender in the neutral zone. This was the re-occurring theme throughout the game, Campeau using his slick hands to escape defenders and showing flashes of what he's capable of. Alex showed the confidence to be patient, draw defenders toward him and then beat them with a slick move, making for some impressive moments where his skills jumped off the page. I came away thinking that the foundation is here for an exciting player, but there are some key development areas to help project his game to the OHL level. Getting more agile and quicker laterally, especially while carrying the puck, is something I think will be crucial to help him be better prepared to fend off junior-level competition down the road. Alex will be an interesting one to track over the season to see how his skating keeps developing as there is certainly a player here worth keeping an eye on.
