In my first few views of the Wild, the physical tools and solid mobility in Caleb's game were apparent, but other than that, I didn't have much of a read on his game. However, the more games I watched, the more I saw him start to shine and be more of a regular positive contributor on this Wild team. Gauthier seems to be getting more confident with the puck, relying on his powerful skating to carry pucks up the ice, and be more of a factor in transition. Similarly, in the offensive zone, there have been some nice sequences of him walking the line and finding shooting lanes that all fall under this theme of showing more when the puck is on his stick. Especially in the recent Nov. 23 game vs. Cyclones, I thought Caleb was fantastic at shutting down plays, winning back possession, and helping the Wild stay out of their zone. He was aggressive at applying pressure in the neutral zone, stopping attacks before they got into his zone, and just overall had a stellar defensive impact. My key takeaway is that this defensive side of things is where the value lies, as with his skating and physical tools, it could lead to a solid projectable player at the junior level if things keep trending well.

Gauthier played a ton in this one, logging 29 minutes, and with that comes the occasional mishap, but as a whole, I thought he played well. Caleb was aggressive defensively, looking to apply pressure, and free up loose pucks. He used his reach well, getting his stick into attackers' space, and was just all-around, always looking to disrupt plays in his defensive zone. For the most part, his passing and ability to facilitate breakouts were on the mark, helping Wild exit their zone with control more often than not. There were flashes of him using his feet to escape pressure and carry pucks forward, but I mainly noted him for winning possession and stopping the Titans' attacks.
