I think he still catches me off guard sometimes with how mobile he chooses to be in little moments. For someone of his size, he isn’t afraid to pinch in the zone, try to sneak in the backdoor as a shot option, and jump into the rush as a trailer. I do like his shot release but these games were more evidence that he still gets them blocked more often than not. I noticed he was paying attention to try and change his angle or delay a bit more to get them through but they'd still hit a leg a lot of the time. He’s big, mobile, engaging, but there are certainly lots of areas in his game to continue to tinker with and see improvement. I don’t think he’s as menacing physically as he could be, he doesn’t seem to want to hold onto pucks for longer than he needs to when pressured which leads to soft dump ins or shots easily stopped from distance, and some of the Bishop Kearney players were able to dangle through his defensive triangle under the stick and attack him wide. The biggest thing is that he’s got the tools for the improvement to be a hard-nosed top-4 defender. I’m hoping to see him attempt more things as a puck carrier including cut backs, regroupings, protecting at length with his head up, and just testing the limits of the forecheckers to really earn the turnover.

It is fairly rare that we get players who are of this size and this level of mobility early on in these drafts but the combination of his size and toughness is going to make some teams really think things over with how high they wanna gamble on him. He was certainly active in dragging pucks from the boards and trying to get heavier wrist shots on net after pinching in the zone or making sure to be harder on pucks at the offensive blueline. He’s got that mixture of solid passing decisions and the ability to step into a shot release a little bit. As is expected of bigger players, right now he’s a little stiff at times in his movements which keeps his stickhandling mostly in the front pocket areas which sometimes limits his choices with how to quickly react. You got to see some blending on physicality along the outside and some smarter outlets though. I think he might be a player who shows up in lots of different spots on lists as he’s 6’6.
