EVENT
2024 New Brunswick U16 High Performance Camp
I know it’s still very early in the process, but Schnarr looks like one of the premiere prospects for the 2025 QMJHL Draft. At 6’3 and 187 lbs he already possesses an above-average junior hockey frame, but it’s high-end processing, playmaking and goal scoring ability that really set him apart from his peers throughout this camp. His ability to scan and process the game around him prior to his puck touches allows him to play the game with pace and precision by making quick one touch passes while in transition before defenders can react. He has a knack for manipulating the body position of opposing defenders ever so slightly, using a series of subtle delays or fakes to open up the slimmest of seams that he could then thread a pass through to a streaking teammate. He owns impressive speed for a player his size, including the ability to shift gears on a dime to catch defenders flat-footed and blow by them off the rush to break in alone for a dangerous chance. His off-puck work was just as effective, as he always seemed to be popping up to the front of the net just as a puck came loose in front and getting himself into prime scoring areas in loose pockets of space to make himself a dangerous passing option for teammates. Schnarr was just dominant from start to finish here, and I look forward to keeping track of his development throughout the year.

2024 QMJHL CUP: PEI VS NEW BRUNSWICK
Every time Schnarr touched the puck in this game something seemed to happen, putting up a 3 goal and 1 assist outing utilizing his high-end processing and shooting ability. His ability to get himself into open space in the offensive zone helped him generate plenty of looks from his teammates, especially off the rush where I thought he supported play very nicely by roaming up high and acting as the trailing option to get shots off from above the circle. His second goal gave the best example of his elite shooting acumen as he took a pass off the rush and flashed a deadly release to get off a hard and accurate shot that beat the goaltender over the glove clean and from distance. He was quite the effective play connector off the rush as well, planning out his intentions beforehand so he could execute quick one touch plays in transition to allow his line to play with tempo and overwhelm opposing defenders.

2024 QMJHL CUP: NOVA SCOTIA VS NEW BRUNSWICK
Schnarr came bursting out of the gate in this one, using his size and skill advantages to create chances for himself and his teammates at a frequent rate. He was able to get in behind Nova Scotia’s defenders a couple of times early in the game, earning himself breakaway opportunities that he couldn’t capitalize on. He flashed some high-end puck skills later on in the first frame when he was able to toe drag around a defender on a one on one rush to get a backhand chance off in tight that was denied once again. Throughout the rest of the game he was showed some intelligent puck-moving and processing ability, planning his plays prior to his touches so he could execute one touch plays to catch defenders off guard and get pucks to teammates in the middle of the ice. Schnarr was using his size and reach advantageously as well in the offensive zone to retrieve loose pucks by boxing out defenders and poking loose pucks away which lead to some prolonged possession time in the offensive zone for New Brunswick.

2024 New Brunswick High Performance Camp: Team Yellow vs Team White (Game 2)
Schnarr’s size, skill and processing ability made him virtually impossible to contain in this game. His ability to manipulate opposing defenders by either drawing them in or getting them to drop down allowed him to consistently work his way around them both off the rush and off the halfwall in order to gain access to the middle of the ice and get shots off from the inside. He was reading the set-up of his teammates prior to his puck touches, which allowed him to make quick one touch plays in transition and spring odd man advantages for his team. As a puck-carrier off the rush he was using a deceptive use of his speed by changing gears on a dime to get a step on defenders and drive the net for chances in alone. He scored his team’s 2nd goal of the game by taking an intelligent route to the front of the net and jumping on a loose puck just as it popped out in the crease area before potting it into the open net.

2024 New Brunswick U16 High Performance Camp: Team Yellow vs Team White (Game 1)
Schnarr’s combination of size and playmaking are going to make him a highly talked about prospect this season. He was one of the more dangerous players with the puck on his stick in this game, thanks in large part to his ability to manipulate defenders with subtle delays to open up passing lanes for a split second before feeding a teammate in the middle of the ice. His processing ability allows him to play with tempo and pace, as he was consistently identifying his options prior to his puck touches so that he could get the puck off his stick immediately while operating off the rush to keep defenders on their toes. He was also able to execute a few difficult behind the back passes in transition to spring his teammates on two on one situations. He scored his teams fifth goal of the game when he was able to get in behind both defenders, receive a stretch pass to break in alone and fire a perfect snapshot over the glove.
