EVENT 2024 Whitby Silver Stick
I liked Fischer's game for his combination of mobility and puck management. When he had the puck, there were many nice displays of him relying on his feet to turn, deceive, and evade a forechecker that gave him the space required to make an outlet pass. He showed that display of confidence and ability to play with control, rarely panicked under pressure, and just always seemed to find the right play to move pucks up ice. Using the same mobility, Ishwaran wanted to activate and join the rush or carry pucks up ice, which made for a solid first impression showcasing many tools I am looking for in my evaluation of a defender's play.

EVENT 2024 Draft Day Showcase
I noticed Fischer for how he combined his frame and puck skills to protect the puck and advance play into the dangerous areas. I always found he was using his reach well, protecting pucks to the outside, and being very difficult to knock off the puck, especially in small area sequences down low and along the boards. Whenever he was under pressure, Fischer had a slick move up his sleeve, to dangle his way in and out of checks and find ways to navigate around the offensive zone with control. Given his puck skills, he was eager to attempt moves to the middle of the ice, pulling pucks around defenders, and finding ways to access scoring areas, often succeeding in his efforts and registering a quality shot on net. He connected on a handful of quality passing sequences over the weekend, notably one where he protected the puck on a two-on-one and threaded it across ice to his teammate backdoor who finished off Fischer's pass. His combination of physical tools, puck management, and puck skills all worked together to add value and make him stand out, earning him a spot on my watchlist entering the 2025 OHL Draft season.

Ishwaran's mobility and how he got around the ice was what moved the needle in this game and what touched every element of my notes on his play. Fischer is a powerful skater who could shift in any direction, giving him all the tools required for any situation. He was evasive with the puck, relying on maneuverability to dodge oncoming pressure, and create space for himself to then make a pass up ice. Similarly, Fischer walked the line with confidence, getting a step on oncoming forwards to create a shooting lane. All over the ice, Fischer was able to create separation from opponents, showcasing how his mobility can create advantages for himself and help him be a positive contributor at both ends of the ice.
