With Jack, the theme after watching him is always similar, focusing on the physical tools and how hard he can be to knock off the puck. He's an explosive skater with swift handling, and how he combines those two in conjunction with his frame is always the key takeaway. When he gets going, it can be nearly impossible for defenders to stop him, frequently flying down the wing, entering the zone with control, and protecting the puck well from his opponents. These moments are great to see and add solid value to this Myers team, but I still think he can leverage all these tools to attack the middle lane or drive wide and attack the net more. To me, seeing this angle come out more and more is what I'm hoping to see from him to help cement him as a top-end prospect for this draft. At the very least, there is a projectable player that I can easily see how he can fill a depth role at the OHL level, but I just think he's capable of showing more offensive creation, helping forecast more upside and being worthy of a high pick.

Malandra had plenty of scoring chances in this game, complimenting McGregor well to be in the right place for his many dangerous passes. I just always thought he was in the proper position, rotating around the offensive zone well to support the puck carrier and be available for a pass. Jack easily could have had a handful of goals but couldn't find the handle on a couple, but ultimately converted, being wide open backdoor for a cross-ice powerplay pass from Enright that Jack finished.

In my report last week from Myers' opening game, I talked about how the tools were present, but I felt Jack could have leveraged them more to drive more high-danger chances, and that's what he did in this game. It didn't take long as on the first shift, he showed his power, protecting the puck down low, taking it around the net and threading a quick backdoor pass to Barbeau for an easy tap-in. All game long, he was excellent down low in the zone, spinning off checks, protecting the puck, and using his frame to shield the puck effectively. In a very similar manner, he used his frame and powerful skating to his advantage off the rush to win lanes to the net and cut in for scoring chances. In my first view of Myers, the tools were apparent, and it was just great to see them being used more to create offence in my second viewing of Malandra and the talented Myers squad.

Malandra was out of the lineup at the OHFs for most of the time I was there to watch, so I didn't get a proper chance to evaluate him, so this was more or less a clean slate. It didn't take long for Jack to jump off the page, as within the first shift, you could see what his game was all about, which was his power. A few explosive strides and off he went up ice, gaining separation from opponents and sparking multiple chances off the rush stemming from his ability to propel himself by the Cyclones defence. Within the offensive zone, I thought Jack did a solid job at using his frame to protect the puck low in the zone and along the boards, showcasing more of this "power" theme. The tools were impressive, and I think he can flex them more to drive more and more offence as the season goes on. Being more assertive to protect the puck, attack the middle, and win lanes to the net are areas I came away thinking Malandra can expand on to be even more dominant. He showcased his powerful shot a few times in this game, and I think if he can get to the scoring areas more and more, he can fill the net. Nonetheless, it was a promising first performance, and I look forward to watching him more closely.
