EVENT 2024 Draft Day Showcase
Ritson is the other skater who falls into the same category as Tenhunen, an Ontario player who skated alongside many top WHL draft eligibles last season. With Jake, I saw a practical player who excels at the little things that go into linking plays together to move pucks up ice and into the dangerous areas. Most of his impact came from making the simple but correct decision to spot an open teammate and move the puck to where it needed to go. Whether it was to win a zone exit, entry, or spot a teammate in the slot, Ritson typically executed these plays to be an effective piece for Northern Ontario's transition game and offence. He's a stable and powerful skater, which helped him in his efforts to control the puck and be difficult to dispossess, especially down low and along the wall. Like Tenhunen, assuming Ritson continues at Rink Winnipeg, it'll be an interesting challenge for me to dive into a new environment and assess Jake, but I am looking forward to it.
