EVENT 2025 Hockey Québec M16 Camp
The aggressiveness of Bégin caught my eye a handful of times, especially in the neutral zone where I thought he was very proactive as a defender and looking to kill plays before they could materialize. He was timing his step ups quite well throughout camp, often catching puck-carriers in compromising situations before removing them from the puck with either a stick or body check. Bégin was also one of the better defenders at killing odd man rushes, using strong body positioning to get his stick and body into lanes that helped thwart a number of high danger chances. His physical play carried over to the defensive zone as well, often looking to run puck-carriers through the boards along the perimeter in order to kill cycle plays.

EVENT 2025 Cross Border Challenge
Bégin was one of the more physical and defensively stout defenders out of Québec throughout the entirety of cap. He was able to catch a few puck-carriers off guard in the neutral zone by timing his step ups well and delivering body checks to get them off the puck and kill rush plays as a consequence. I also noted a handful of solid stick plays while defending off the rush due to his reach and strong gap control. He helped kill plays below the goal line in his own end as well by taking strong angles to puck-carriers and pinning them along the boards which helped nullify the opponents cycle game.
